007 First Light
I was interested in playing 007 First Light after reading a few positive reviews. I had to wait a couple weeks in the end because it was out of stock everywhere1.
The levels were well-designed, but playing through the mission objectives was a relatively rigid experience. Often offered a choice of approach, you could see how each would play out in advance (and quite easy to brute force).
The game succeeded in hitting the high notes of a 007 film: score, set design, action sequences, etc. There were many moments where I thought, “This could be a 007 film!”
I encountered numerous bugs of varying severity. E.g. on failing a mission, the game would frequently hang instead of reloading the checkpoint, which meant relaunching from the dashboard. Annoying!
In the end, it was fine, entertaining even. I don’t think I’d pick it back up and I don’t feel it was worth the launch price of £59.99.

If available, I will always choose physical games, of course. ↩
